Bank holiday fun time again in London this weekend. After a fantastic opening night Thursday for Dan Pearce’s solo show Rare are enjoying a relaxing weekend. The sun may not be shining but there will still be lots of fun things to do and see in London.
Today was the last day of the Chelsea Flower Show which is the worlds largest Flower show to date. This week as always has shown us an unusual amount of talent and beauty including a beautiful array of floral dresses, . Every year the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea are transformed into show gardens, inspirational small gardens and vibrant horticultural displays for the world’s most famous flower show.
The RHS Chelsea Flower Show is attended by more than 150,000 visitors each year. Tickets sell out quickly as it is a long awaited event. The show has become an important venue for watching emerging gardening trends. New plants are launched and the popularity of older varieties are revived. It’s the garden design equivalent of Paris Fashion Week and is staged in one of London’s most charming and affluent neighbourhoods.
A large portion of the work we have on display by Dan Pearce is of abstract flower landscapes although they are selling out fast you have until the 18th June to get yourselves down here to view his work.
RARE INTERIOR ART comes to Venue 28
The brand new gallery Rare Interior Art, recently opened up in Beckenham is pleased to be showing a collection of works at Venue 28.
Owner and resident artist Amber-Jane Raab is showcasing work until the Friday June 24th, finishing with a closing event at the Venue, in the evening.
Rare Interior Art has recently been relocated to the area, and Amber, a local herself, has dedicated blood sweat and tears to turn an old local shop into a bright gallery space, equipped with gallery, workshop and art studio, bringing the whole business to the doorstep of Beckenham/Penge.
What’s also a pleasant surprise is the reasonable pricing, which Amber prides herself on. ‘Through the years people have questioned why I have remained so affordable, but I believe this is part of the success of the business, just because the work looks more expensive than it is, doesn’t mean I have to price it that way. My aim is to make it accessible, which is why we have a wide range of materials, sizes and finishes, so there’s something for everyone’.
Amber’s work is available throughout galleries and high-end gift stores throughout the UK she even creates designs for the London Eye Gift Shop, and has recently been asked to design art for the Sealife Attractions, globally.
The new gallery brings all this and more to Beckenham and the surrounding areas, giving the templated shopping centres a run for their money. Buying art should be an experience, and Amber intends to ensure locals feel they are taken good care of. Free advice on curating art for your space is always available from the team, you can even book an appointment with Amber to discuss your specific needs/project at your home/on-site.
The feedback to the gallery, has been fantastic. Locals have embraced the new offering, and haven’t been shy in partaking in some retail therapy, making step one of the gallery a success.
The next steps? The plans for the gallery are to introduce new exciting art from other artists to bring a wide range of exciting, affordable art to the area. Alongside this, the team at Rare are working hard to put the gallery on the map, so that everyone in the surrounding areas knows about them.
Supporting local shops is so imperative if we don’t want to end up shopping like robots in shopping centres that are almost identical. It’s a real bonus to an area when an established, if small business moves to the area, even if it’s just better kerb appeal.
The exhibition takes place on the walls in the common areas of the Venue 28, from 23 May until the 24th June, and there will be a celebratory event in the evening Friday the 24th.
Venue 28 is a fantastic addition to the community, and Rare Interior Art is very proud to be associated with the Venue.

More About Dan Pearce the artist
Dan Pearce is a Beckenham-based mixed media artist and digital designer who recently featured in London’s Shortlist magazine as one of the UK’s most collectable emerging artists.
Dan studied art a college on Merseyside which led to a (BA) Hons in Jewellery Design. Post Uni he returned to his original birth place of Australia and setup home in Sydney for the next seven years. It was here he honed his skills for digital design and fell in love with stencil art. Influenced by some of the stencil masters ELK and C215 he immersed himself into the world of hand cut stencils and spray paint.
Taking inspiration from street and pop art and juxtapositioning it with fine art, his work is bold and confident in style often completely transforming iconic portraits with his own inimitable style and blurring the lines between new media, pop and digital art. He uses a range of new and mixed media in his work from spray paint to hand painting, resins, stencils, collage and digital media.
Dan is married with two sons. He has built a studio at the bottom of his garden which allows him to juggle his busy life of artist, his digital design business and a hands-on Dad. Dan has been exhibiting his artwork since 2011 throughout the UK and internationally.
There is nothing more beautiful than visiting Paris in Spring just before the strong summer heat kicks in. I love Paris in the springtime,’ sang Ella Fitzgerald. ‘I love Paris in the fall…’. The city that inspired thousands of books and movies is a treat in any season. Although when the grey winter clouds lift and spring has truly sprung, it’s hard to beat the sun-kissed France that brings the beau monde to pavement cafés, fills gardens with picnicking families and sees a blossoming of exhibition openings and music festivals. The capital of France not unlike London is a cosmopolitan mix-up of cultures added with a touch of Je ne se qua to make it all the more appealing. The Eiffel Tower is the largest attraction although there are so many more places to Visit. You can take a leisurely trip down the Seine in a boat or walk along the riverbank. Many of the attractions in Paris are easily accessed by the river. To get to the Moulin Rouge you will have to take a small trip on the famous Metro system which has managed to keep hold of the most beautiful Art Nouveau architecture designed by Hector Guimard. We have made a collection of Parisian mosaic prints in homage to one of our favorite springtime getaways and have hopefully captured some of the style the french are so renound for.
