Rare Art Brighton Launch Exhibition

Rare Art Brighton Launch Exhibition

Amber-Jane Raab, main artist and founder of Rare Interior Art has recently taken over a much loved gallery in Brighton’s artists quarter, transforming it into the second Rare gallery – Rare Art Brighton!

As the main selling artist of the previous gallery (Vivid Palette) Raab’s work may already be familiar to some Brighton art lovers. She will be continuing those Brighton designs that we’ve come to know and love, as well as showcasing plenty of brand new originals and limited edition prints.

Over the past few weeks the Rare team has been working hard to prepare for the launch of the new gallery, and we’re happy to announce that it’s finally all coming together. The fresh new look and lots of bold new designs breathe fresh life into the gallery walls.

To celebrate the opening of the gallery, and show off all our hard work, we have a special night planned…

RARE INTERIOR ART comes to Venue 28

RARE INTERIOR ART comes to Venue 28

The brand new gallery Rare Interior Art, recently opened up in Beckenham is pleased to be showing a collection of works at Venue 28.

Owner and resident artist Amber-Jane Raab is showcasing work until the Friday June 24th, finishing with a closing event at the Venue, in the evening.

Rare Interior Art has recently been relocated to the area, and Amber, a local herself, has dedicated blood sweat and tears to turn an old local shop into a bright gallery space, equipped with gallery,  workshop and art studio, bringing the whole business to the doorstep of Beckenham/Penge.

Battersea Power Station

What’s also a pleasant surprise is the reasonable pricing, which Amber prides herself on.  ‘Through the years people have questioned why I have remained so affordable, but I believe this is part of the success of the business, just because the work looks more expensive than it is, doesn’t mean I have to price it that way.  My aim is to make it accessible, which is why we have a wide range of materials, sizes and finishes, so there’s something for everyone’.

Amber’s work is available throughout galleries and high-end gift stores throughout the UK she even creates designs for the London Eye Gift Shop, and has recently been asked to design art for the Sealife Attractions, globally.

The new gallery brings all this and more to Beckenham and the surrounding areas, giving the templated shopping centres a run for their money.   Buying art should be an experience, and Amber intends to ensure locals feel they are taken good care of. Free advice on curating art for your space is always available from the team, you can even book an appointment with Amber to discuss your specific needs/project at your home/on-site.

The feedback to the gallery, has been fantastic.  Locals have embraced the new offering, and haven’t been shy in partaking in some retail therapy, making step one of the gallery a success.

The next steps? The plans for the gallery are to introduce new exciting art from other artists to bring a wide range of exciting, affordable art to the area.  Alongside this, the team at Rare are working hard to put the gallery on the map, so that everyone in the surrounding areas knows about them.

Supporting local shops is so imperative if we don’t want to end up shopping like robots in shopping centres that are almost identical.  It’s a real bonus to an area when an established, if small business moves to the area, even if it’s just better kerb appeal.

The exhibition takes place on the walls in the common areas of the Venue 28, from 23 May until the 24th June, and there will be a celebratory event in the evening Friday the 24th.

VENUE 28 – 28 Beckenham Road • Beckenham, BR3 4LS.

Venue 28 is a fantastic addition to the community, and Rare Interior Art is very proud to be associated with the Venue.

More About Dan Pearce the artist

Dan Pearce is a Beckenham-based mixed media artist and digital designer who recently featured in London’s Shortlist magazine as one of the UK’s most collectable emerging artists.

Dan studied art a college on Merseyside which led to a (BA) Hons in Jewellery Design. Post Uni he returned to his original birth place of Australia and setup home in Sydney for the next seven years. It was here he honed his skills for digital design and fell in love with stencil art. Influenced by some of the stencil masters ELK and C215 he immersed himself into the world of hand cut stencils and spray paint.

Taking inspiration from street and pop art and juxtapositioning it with fine art, his work is bold and confident in style often completely transforming iconic portraits with his own inimitable style and blurring the lines between new media, pop and digital art. He uses a range of new and mixed media in his work from spray paint to hand painting, resins, stencils, collage and digital media.

Dan is married with two sons. He has built a studio at the bottom of his garden which allows him to juggle his busy life of artist, his digital design business and a hands-on Dad. Dan has been exhibiting his artwork since 2011 throughout the UK and internationally.

New year – new st-ART

The New Year has started and we are gearing up to make our first full year in our new gallery a special one. I’m spending the first 2 months of the year focusing on new designs, and can’t wait to share them.

Champagne-LifeBIG-UP THE GIRLS….

This Year marks the thirtieth birthday of one of our favourite gallery spaces in London, the Saatchi gallery. To commemorate this Charles Saatchi is starting off with an all female artist exhibition. Saatchi is renowned for picking up new and exciting emerging artists and has put together this show with fourteen artists he currently favours. The show titled “Champagne Life” showcases artists aged between 20 and 50, while working across various continents with a diverse mixture of art including paintings, sculptures, installations and even taxidermy. The title of the exhibition, ‘Champagne Life’, is taken from a work by the show’s star, Julia Wachtel whose work has a modern day Warhol feel to it. The show will also include work by Mequitta Ahuja, Alice Anderson, Marie Angeletti, Jelena Bulajic, Julia Dault, Mia Feuer, Sigrid Holmwood, Virgile Ittah, Seung Ah Paik, Maha Malluh, Suzanne McClelland, Stephanie Quayle, Soheila Sokhanvari. This is definitely somewhere to go this month to get you out of the cold and awaken your curiosity!

Lumiere was a massive hit this weekend, the biggest light festival to hit the capital so far. It is produced by Artichoke and supported by the Mayor of London and ran for four nights, lighting up the capital, transforming roads and buildings with a host of international artists including Julian Opie, Ocubo, Tae Gon KIM, Ron Hasledon and many more. The piece de resistance had to be “The Circus of light” by Ocubo which was projected onto the side of the granary building.

For those of you who are into Urban art, yesterday saw the opening of “The Big Bang”  which is a group show of urban, graffiti, and contemporary artists hosted by the West Bank Gallery in Notting Hill London. This exhibition features work by Mason Storm, Ben Allen, Carne Griffiths, Julian Quaye and many more new and exciting artists. The show will run for a month, they also have a fabulous café area serving hot food and drinks to keep you warm.
