New year – new st-ART

The New Year has started and we are gearing up to make our first full year in our new gallery a special one. I’m spending the first 2 months of the year focusing on new designs, and can’t wait to share them.

The art world is already kicking off with some spectacular shows and events. Get yourself out of the house and immerse yourself in some great art….

Champagne-LifeBIG-UP THE GIRLS….

This Year marks the thirtieth birthday of one of our favourite gallery spaces in London, the Saatchi gallery. To commemorate this Charles Saatchi is starting off with an all female artist exhibition. Saatchi is renowned for picking up new and exciting emerging artists and has put together this show with fourteen artists he currently favours. The show titled “Champagne Life” showcases artists aged between 20 and 50, while working across various continents with a diverse mixture of art including paintings, sculptures, installations and even taxidermy. The title of the exhibition, ‘Champagne Life’, is taken from a work by the show’s star, Julia Wachtel whose work has a modern day Warhol feel to it. The show will also include work by Mequitta Ahuja, Alice Anderson, Marie Angeletti, Jelena Bulajic, Julia Dault, Mia Feuer, Sigrid Holmwood, Virgile Ittah, Seung Ah Paik, Maha Malluh, Suzanne McClelland, Stephanie Quayle, Soheila Sokhanvari. This is definitely somewhere to go this month to get you out of the cold and awaken your curiosity!

Lumiere was a massive hit this weekend, the biggest light festival to hit the capital so far. It is produced by Artichoke and supported by the Mayor of London and ran for four nights, lighting up the capital, transforming roads and buildings with a host of international artists including Julian Opie, Ocubo, Tae Gon KIM, Ron Hasledon and many more. The piece de resistance had to be “The Circus of light” by Ocubo which was projected onto the side of the granary building.

For those of you who are into Urban art, yesterday saw the opening of “The Big Bang”  which is a group show of urban, graffiti, and contemporary artists hosted by the West Bank Gallery in Notting Hill London. This exhibition features work by Mason Storm, Ben Allen, Carne Griffiths, Julian Quaye and many more new and exciting artists. The show will run for a month, they also have a fabulous café area serving hot food and drinks to keep you warm.

We are delighted to announce that the gallery is now officially open! We’ve had an amazing first week, and are looking forward to adding new exciting collections all the time.

We are pleased to announce that the new gallery will officially open on the 28th November.  However, there’s a preview night on on the 27th at 7pm, so come and join us for drinks, a small gift and discounts on the exciting new ranges!

Any excuse for a knees up? The life of Scotland’s favourite poet; Robert Burns is celebrated every year on January 25th. A traditional Scottish meal of Scotch broth or cock-a-leekie soup is served followed by haggis, tatties, neeps along with lots of whisky, poetry, toasts and merriment.

Whilst haggis may not be to everyone’s taste; you can still join in the celebration with our fun and clever Limited Edition Scotland designs, featuring Saltaire prints, Highland cow art, thistle prints, not to mention Robert Burns himself and our funky I Love Haggis print!

Spirit of Christmas is a fantastic show, we have exhibited there for several years because it is an opportunity for people to meet and shop indoors in a safe and warm environment with lots of curated independent companies, from gifts, art, fashion, home accessories, beauty, food and drink. They also have interesting free workshops too.

We spend a lot of time squirrelling away being creative in our studio, so we really love the opportunity to meet both existing and new clients – and its great to see familiar faces who come back every year. Don’t forget to come and say hi at the show, we’ll be on stand A21.
