Amy Winehouse Original Art from the Queen of Hearts Series.
This stunning piece reflects the style that Dan Pearce has made a name for himself with. His use of resins, sprays and inks on an aluminium base are set off beautifully in this funky take on one of the true style icons of our time, the late London -based singer Amy Winehouse. The back drop of the portrait is in the style of a ‘Queen of Hearts’ playing card with additional brightly coloured spray paint.
About the work…
Dan Pearce’s colourful creations are a pleasure to look at and touch, combining finely grained sprayed backgrounds with drops of lustrous resin onto a variety of materials and surfaces. His abstract-decorative paintings are polished to perfection, showing the artist’s impeccable control of his working media. “I use a process of amalgamating ingredients like polished metals, rich resins, grinding gradients, intricate stencils and a large portion of urban mix to create a vivid, engaging world of iconic portraits” – from HM The Queen to Marilyn Monroe and Lady Gaga to name a few. The synthetic look of Pearce’s work is quite deliberate, giving his paintings an almost industrial, non-handmade aesthetic. The imagery he uses sits tight within its frame, proposing a sharply tailored artistic style. Pearce has been busy this past year working on new mixed media limited edition prints, created with a unique technique of printing and painting direct onto brushed aluminium, leaving areas that show through to the polished material behind giving an unusual feel and added dimension to his bold, iconic style. Pearce uses wonderfully deep, bright colours alongside an array of mixed media – from spray paint to hand painting, resins, stencils, collage and digital media – to capture the passion and serenity in his works.
