How to UseThe Pantone Colour of 2022
That Inspired our brand new Special Edition colour range...
Very Peri, a vibrant blue-purple, is the Pantone Colour of the Year for 2022.
Not only has it been heralded as the 'It' colour for 2022, but Very Peri is in fact a brand new colour created by Pantone – a first in the history of its Colour of the Year forecasts.
'We are living in transformative times,' say Pantone. 'Very Peri is a symbol of the global zeitgeist of the moment and the transition we are going through. As we emerge from an intense period of isolation, our notions and standards are changing.' Okay..but what does that mean for art and interiors?
Well, Pantone describe Very Peri as a 'dynamic periwinkle blue hue with a vivifying violet red undertone'. It blends the faithfulness and constancy of blue with the energy and excitement of red.
We know that at first glance this unusual colour can seem tricky to incorporate into your existing interiors. But we see it as an opportunity to get creative with colour. After we’ve all spent so much time in our homes these last two years, it’s time to open the door to brand new colour!
Very Peri is the inspiration behind Rare's special edition colour range which artist, Amber Jane Raab, will be growing this year. With dynamic new colours and showcasing our first collection of 'Very Peri' pieces at this year's Affordable Art Fair in Battersea this March.

Make new points of interest in a neutral room…
Being an interiors trend setter doesn’t necessarily mean living with vivid colours and difficult patterns that won’t stand the test of time. Instead, affordable art is a great way to modernise and liven up an existing space, all the while highlighting the beauty of simple interiors and emphasising the impact of contemporary vibrant art.
Contrast your colour scheme to make it pop, and tie it together with metallic painted details…
Contrasting two or three block colours is a short-cut to expressing your interior know-how. We’ve found that ‘Very Peri’ is full of surprises - and very accommodating of lots of other colours, so theres no need to reinvent your whole space. Try Using the versatile Pantone colour against blue tones in your home to draw out the reds in Very Peri. Or place it against warm toes to draw out its blue hues. The gold accents and red details on our St Paul’s piece are the glue that holds the room together, tying in every colour with a delicious touch of metallic.
Or go bold and stay home with Very Peri on your walls.
Soften the Pantone 2022 colour with crisp modern art and cut right through it with a simple black frame. We love our Vintage Routemaster against Very Peri walls and interior details like a sofa, a throw or a rug. The vibrant red tones of the art really accentuate those red hues lurking in Very Peri and make the walls feel deceptively warm and cosy. Likewise, the art work’s blue and purple shadows live in harmony with the dynamic colour. Try adding leafy greens and pale pinks to soften the space.
Cheat! Pick a Rare piece of art that you love, and still be bang on the ‘Very peri’ trend! Rare artist, Amber, loves using purple in her art because of how striking and surprisingly versatile it is.
